About Leslie

Leslie is a mother to a Graduate student and married for over 25 years. She has been a teacher and skating instructor in Durham Region for nearly 30 years. Active in her community including and promoting the strengths of people with all abilities, Leslie desires to make a difference while showing people kindness and love. Charitable efforts include advocating for those who live with Type 1 Diabetes, an autoimmune disease Leslie was diagnosed with at the age of 6. She believes God created each person in His image and desires to help people discover who they are created to be. When not working Leslie enjoys travelling with her husband and spending time with her extended family.

Credentials

Leslie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP). Leslie also has many coaching certifications and experience with competitive athletes.

Education & Experience

Leslie completed her Bachelor of Arts at Trent University, Peterborough, and Teaching Degree at Medaille College, Buffalo, NY. She has recently graduated from Yorkville University with her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with Distinction. Leslie has worked with elementary and high school aged students as a teacher, tutor, and mentor. Leslie has experience competing and coaching at Provincial and National levels.

Leslie is beginning her counselling career in private practice offering both in person and virtual sessions, having completed an internship within the Ontario Affordable Therapy program. Providing counselling support to children over 6 years, adolescents, adults and seniors, Leslie focuses on individual concerns including grief, anxiety, depression, chronic disease, and trauma amongst others which may be related to current or past experiences. Leslie’s talk therapy approach is humanistic where she uses various modalities, such as DBT, EFIT, Narrative, Attachment, and Mindfulness keeping the individual as her central focus.
